Ring of Saturn (Picatrix)

Made from Lead and set with a carved turquoise, the planetary ring of Saturn found in the Picatrix gives the wearer control over spirits that work in darkness and shadow, as well as various saturnine animals.

Crow Headed Saturn

An image of Saturn taken from the Picatrix:

"the image of Saturn according to the opinion of the sage Picatrix is the form of a man with the face of a crow and the fee of a camel, sitting on a throne. In this right hand he has a spear and in his left hand a lance or dart."

Camel feet are hard to draw....may re-do this one at some.

Jupiter (picatrix)

A planetary image of Jupiter based on a description found in the Picatrix

"The image of Jupiter according to other sages is the image of a man diding on an eagle, carrying cloth in his right hand and holding nuts in his left hand, and all of his clothing is saffron coloured."

This image is obviously derived from images of the greco-roman Jupiter/Zeus.

VENVS

very similar to the image described in the picatrix

MERCVRIVS (own design

Not as happy with this as with the others (weird shoes) ended up looking like a mashup between Hermes and Thoth which seems entirely appropriate.

SATVRNUS (own design)

Another one of my own creation - symbols from Picatrix

Jupiter (own design)

This was the very first of my own attempts at coming up with my own planetary image - a very regal looking image for Jupiter. The symbols at the bottom of the image are taken from the Picatrix. At some point i'll attempt to make some of the more traditional images.

First image posted! Luna

LUNA

FIrst image posted is this original design by myself. The images of the moon traditionally found in texts such as Agrippa and The Picatrix are incredibly complicated (usually involving multiple snakes wrapped around multiple limbs) and i will attempt to work on them at some point - however for now, i'm pretty pleased with this image of my own creation.

This was one of the first of a set of personal images i came up with for my own use, combining various elements of luna attributes to make this design. The mask is indicative of secrecy and illusion, the plants could be healing herbs, or the leaves (the part of the plant ruled by the moon) of a number of healing herbs. She wears a mantilla/habit like cloth over her head akin to various religious women as well as the high priestess in the Tarot. Her stomach is swollen with pregnancy, and finally her face is that of an owl, which to me, is one of the most overtly lunar animals.

would love to know if people have any thoughts.

First Post

I've never really tried this whole blogging malarky before, so this is a new one for me. I set up this page so that I have an online space in which to store my various images in a chronological way so i can access them wherever - rather than using a private drive of some kind, i thought i'd do them this way, so that other people can have a look and maybe get something from my interpretation of various images etc. Like I say, this is new to me, and I'm not particularily good at articulating myself in text, that said, i shall press on and hopefully things will grow from here into something interesting to look at!

A note on the name of the blog: Et Sint In Signa is taken from Genesis 1:14

Dixit autem Deus: Fiant luminaria in firmamento cæli, et dividant diem ac noctem, et sint in signa et  tempora, et dies et annos

Then God said: “Let there be lights in the firmament of heaven. And let them divide day from night, and let them become signs, both of the seasons, and of the days and years.

This quote always stuck with me and as this is going to be a blog primarily concerned with planetary/astrological images i thought i'd pilfer it for my blog title. who knows, it could all change, but for now, i'm going with it. First images should be coming soon.
